BIOGRAPHY
Christine Reising received her B.Sc. in Art Education from Southern Indiana University in 1979 and her MFA in 1981 from the University of Windsor, Canada in Printmaking. From 1984 until her recent retirement, she was employed by Siena Heights University in a number of capacities including Department Chair, Klemm Gallery Director, and Professor of the Print and Book Arts Program. She redesigned that program to include book arts and managed it as a non-toxic shop after attending a course at the Penland School of Crafts in 2006.
Chris' diversified art practice has included costume and set design, site-specific installation, printmaking, and book arts. She employs a less-than-traditional approach in all her work. Her love of the monoprint process often combines digital transfers, collage, and other print processes and her books are generally from repurposed sources. She has written, designed, and constructed over twenty-six artist's books and collaborated with artists and writers on another nine. Chris and her high school sweetheart and husband Jim live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They love travel, especially to France, Italy, and Spain. |
